Make U.P. wrestling great! Helping all U.P. Youth wrestlers get better by pushing one another to improve each time we are on the mat, whether training or facing off in a live match. We strive to get all of our wrestlers ready for where their next step takes them, whether that is a local high school program or a neighboring high school program. The U.P. wrestling community is a very tight family that has each other's back! Join us in our mission!
We are a 501c3 non-profit organization.
We are non-school affiliated.
We are a MYWAY Far North Region Wrestling Club
How are we different from “Club Teams” you’ve experienced before or might know now?
We are a completely self funded (Donations, Grants and Fundraisers) 501c3 Non-Profit Organization. As a Non-Profit we can not exclude anyone that wants to wrestle with us based on School District, Hometown or any other criteria. We are not named after the School district we are in because of that and do not get any funding for our Team from the School District or from area taxes. We do not go out and Recruit wrestlers or parents. Our Mats, purchased through fundraising, are owned and maintained by the Team and our Volunteers. The majority of the Team singlets are owned by the club and loaned out to our wrestlers at the beginning of each season. Our current Practice facility is owned by the taxpayers of Meyer Township who generously let us use the building as long as we work around their Rental schedule.
Our Coaches are volunteers, parents and college wrestlers that have come up through youth Wrestling programs from various areas of the country. We are trying to better the U.P. Wrestling Community by giving kids in underserved areas a place to wrestle, a team to be part of and make all of the U.P. Wrestlers better through better competition. We do not have secret or special moves we teach or train. We openly welcome wrestlers from all over to drop in and wrestle with us (MYWAY membership required for insurance purposes). We understand being a wrestlers “Second Home” if they are looking for extra mat time, whether that is once a season, once a month or two to three times a week. We understand they may practice with us and then go compete directly against us that weekend.
If you are at a tournament and need a coach in the corner we are more than happy to help, even if you have never wrestled with us. We have offered to help kids that we didn’t know and had kids at MYWAY States grab us and ask us to Coach, We will coach our hearts out for any wrestler that needs or wants the help.
Youth Wrestling is truly all about the kids. We want to help them, no matter where they are from, get the basics, be better wrestlers and be ready to move into any high school program when they leave us after the 8th grade.
March 21st to March 24th we took 18 Boys and 9 Girls to the MYWAY Youth Wrestling State Championships
