The U.P. Youth Wrestling Championships were a great success. We are already in the planning stages and going through feedback from you to make next years even better! If you have pictures or Video you would like to see on the U.P. Youth Championships Page here, please email them or any other feedback to us at uppowerwrestling@gmail.com
We are now Defense Soap Distributors and have added some of the products to our Online Store and have some in stock and ready to go. We will also have some product with us at Tournaments we attend. If there is something you would like from Defense that we currently do not carry let us know and we can add it to a future order.
Parents and members our club had to make a new facebook page to allow sharing abilities for current and future posts.
Please go in and join our new page
U.P. Power Youth Wrestling Club
We will leave the current one open for a few days until everyone is switched over and then we will delete it and change the new club page name back to U.P. POWER WRESTLING
We apologize for having to making this change but it will better help promote our Club.
Thank you
Along with the U.P. Youth Championships on Saturday 2/24/2024, there will also be a FREE WAR Zone Event running at the same time, same floor (different mats) inside the same building! If you have a wrestler that is not signed up for the Championships but wants to get some wrestling in that day they can sign up for the WAR Zone Event. Any Wrestler that is Signed up for the Tournament can also get WAR Zone matches after they have completed their Bracket if they want more matches or have a grudge to settle (both parties willing) Sign up for the WAR Zone here:
Warzone stats, 62 wrestlers, 139 matches, less than 4 hours total- 2 per kid, average matches/kid 4.6, most matches 8, kids with no wins 8, kids with no loses 6. If this were a round robin with same numerous of kids you would have, 96 matches, 3 per kid, 16 kids with no wins, 16 with no loses and time would be likely 4 hours per kid but at the mercy of host and program. Even with a smaller turn out Warzone performed as advertised, more matches, less time and more competitive. This is not designed to give kids easy or undefeated days. It is about getting competitive matches. The more matches you wrestle, the more accurate your rating will be and your matches become more evenly matched. Of course more competitors helps make match ups, so bring your friends to the next one. Thanks again to all who attended.
We have broken the team into 3 practice groups as you have seen on the schedule of upcoming events. We did this to get the kids the best practices they can have by putting them in groups of similarly experienced wrestlers. Do not feel like your wrestler is stuck in a group, as they progress or struggle in a group we will move them around. This also will give the wrestlers more attention from the coaches at each practice.
We're going to do our best to reduce skin lesions. But we need your help! Here is a prevention and treatment checklist for everyone. Sometimes it just happens but its important to know what to do and what to look for.
Shower immediately when getting home from practice or a tournament. When showering make sure to use a wash cloth or other scrubbing tool and then put those and any towels used into the wash as soon as possible. This will help you not spread anything to your family or other wrestlers.
You will notice on the Calendar that we now have Practices divided into 3 groups. Coach Raab is working on contacting and typing up the List of Groups so you will know which Practice to attend. Thanks for your patience we will see you at Practice!
Quick Checklist for our Wrestling Families:
In depth Practice and Tournament Schedule will be available soon.
Parents, particularly those with beginners or lower elementary wrestlers: the brunt of our schedule is in February and March. Be sure to monitor your wrestler to prevent possible early burnout. It is ok to take off a weekend or practice now and then.
